Chorus, 2025
A teenage girl leaves a house party late at night. She crosses the porch onto a quiet neighbourhood street and begins her walk home. She walks quickly, her arms stiff and her eyes alert for danger. Deer watch her with foreboding stares. When she notices a car following her, time stops, and she’s all alone as she stands frozen in the headlights. It's not the first, nor the last time she'll feel this kind of fear.

During Anna’s routine visit to her grandfather’s nursing home, her relationship with him momentarily evolves from something silent, disconnected and seemingly stagnant to something more through the sweet exchange of a smile. Her desire for this kind of closeness is projected through her visions of him dancing in her head, to the music in her earphones. Spontaneously, or almost like she can’t take this feeling anymore, she unplugs her earphones and releases the music into the room—an act of bravery, a push for change.

The birdwatcher walks through a birdless forest. With no luck in spotting a bird, she nearly gives up before realizing she can tear open the page, a hole in her world. In the end, Liz, the creator of this animated world, embodies the birdwatcher, finally spotting a bird as her animations escape the page.

Maybe is set in the near future in a world completely overwhelmed by its own complexity; where a regular state amongst people is decision-making paralysis. A hotline is set up for them to call in such a dilemma. On the other end is just one woman tasked with answering hundreds of calls at a time. The pressure of strangers' choices weighs down on her as the sound of the ringer becomes unbearable. Eventually, he decides to do the impossible. She stops giving them answers and the world slowly comes to a halt. As people are forced to make choices again, take risks and accept uncertainty, the world begins to flourish again and its beauty swells.
